Home canning is a cost effective and nutritious way to preserve the bounty of your garden or to take advantage of summer farmer’s markets.  Canning safely is critical for the health of your family and to ensure the time and money spent on preservation is not wasted.

For anyone who cans food for home use or would like to know how to begin….Melissa from the OSU Extension - Fulton County office will be on hand to answer any questions about home preservation using water bath canning and pressure canning methods.  She will have fact sheets to guide your efforts at home.  Also, have your Pressure Canner tested to see if it’s working properly and ensure your equipment is safe and ready to use.  There is a small fee for canner testing of $5 per canner.
