Fulton County has 260,288 total acres of which 198,000 acres are involved in farming. Fulton County is a strong agricultural county ranking 11th in total agricultural receipts (2004) for the state of Ohio. Fulton County agriculture generates a total of $103 million in cash farm receipts with $78 million from crop enterprises and $25 million from livestock annually. The importance of individual crops to total crop receipts are corn (6th), soybeans (23rd), specialty crops (11th) and wheat (13th) respectively with the number in parenthesis representing state ranking of the 88 counties. Greenhouse, processing vegetable crops and nurseries make up a thriving speciality crop industry. The importance of individual livestock enterprises are hogs (6th), dairy (32nd) and beef (24th) respectively.
